Michael Owen comments on Chelsea and Arsenal’s chances of winning Champions League

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen does not fancy Arsenal to win the Champions League this season.

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes that Chelsea can win the Champions League this season.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are the three Premier League representatives in the knockout rounds of Europe’s premier club competition this campaign.

“Chelsea and Manchester City have got tough draws, but who can win it is a better question,” Owen told BT Sport when asked which English team can win the Champions League, according to Squawka.com.

“I think Chelsea can win it. Maybe Manchester City at a push, I don’t think Arsenal can win it. I think Chelsea will go the furthest (of the English sides)."

Most football followers will agree with Owen. Chelsea have been the most impressive team in the Premier League so far this season, and they do have a strong squad capable of the challenging the best of oppositions in Europe.

In Jose Mourinho, Chelsea have a manager who is a serial winner and who will be determined to win the competition again this campaign.

Arsenal are also-rans in the Champions League, although they should qualify for the quarter-finals as they have been drawn against AS Monaco in last 16.

As for Manchester City, manager Manuel Pellegrini has a strong team with some superb players, but question marks remain on whether they have what it takes to compete against the very best in Europe.
