Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has his sights locked on lifting the Capital One Cup.
Spurs take on Newcastle United in the League Cup later this evening and Lloris is determined to help his side book their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
The tournament is one which has often been undervalued by Premier League sides, but Lloris insists that winning it is one of Spurs's priorities this season.
“Of course the league is really important but to win a trophy like the League Cup or an European competition is always a pleasure,” Lloris told the club's official site.
“It’s important for the club, the fans and all the players because you work every day to get the chance to win a trophy.
“It’s still a long way though. Newcastle are a big club and a team in form at the moment. It’s a big game for us.”
Tottenham go into the match as the favourites to beat Newcastle, but they know they will have to be at their best to avoid an upset.
Alan Pardew's men have already beaten them at White Hart Lane this season and that result will serve as a warning of what could happen if Spurs fail to play at their best.
Newcastle are not expected to name their strongest team for the clash, but the pressure is on for Spurs to meet expectations.
The Lilywhites have not won a major trophy since being triumphant in the League Cup back in 2008 and the prolonged wait for more success has frustrated supporters.
Lloris, though, seems determined to help his team progress and that should give Mauricio Pochettino's men confidence they will have a solid platform to build upon during the fixture.
