Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes that Tottenham Hotspur will find it tough against Sheffield United in the semi-finals of the League Cup.
North London outfit Spurs got the better of Newcastle United 4-0 at White Hart Lane in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
It was a hugely convincing performance from Tottenham, for whom it was their second victory in a row following a 2-1 away success over Swansea City away from home in the Premier League on Sunday.
United were also impressive in the quarter-finals, getting the better of Premier League outfit Southampton 1-0 at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.
Nigel Clough’s side will be aiming for another giant-killing feat when they take on Spurs for a place in the final, and Souness seems to think that they could succeed.
“When you get to the semi-finals of the competition, there are no easy games,” the 61-year-old told Sky Sports. “Tottenham won’t have it easy, I think, against Sheffield United. That will be a battling Sheffield United.”
Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp, though, believes that it is United who will find it tough.
“Sheffield United have a fantastic record in this competition, in the FA Cup as well,” he said. “I think Nigel Clough have done a really good job there… But it’s a tough draw for them.”
In the other League Cup semi-final tie, Liverpool will take on Chelsea.
