Former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has hit out at comments from Adel Taarabt regarding Mario Balotelli.
Taarabt played alongside the Italian at AC Milan last season, but said on Sky Italia this week that the Liverpool forward was not a team player.
The QPR playmaker has barely featured this season, and Lineker took to Twitter to point out the hypocrisy of the Moroccan.
Taarabt on Balotelli "He has a strong shot but doesn't play for the team. He's not a world class player." Takes one to know one, I guess.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) December 16, 2014
Taarabt's comments did seem quite stunning considering the fact he is yet to achieve half of what Balotelli has in his career so far.
Yet for him it seems to be about raising his profile at the moment in Italy ahead of the transfer window, as he bids to earn a move away from London and back to Serie A.
It seems to be working, just the same day it was reported that Atalanta are interested in his services, and if he can get a clean break away from QPR and start afresh, perhaps it will motivate himself to kick on and make the most of his undoubted talent.
