At just 18 years of age, Barcelona winger Adama Traore is regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in world football today and the Spaniard showcased just why during a fine showing for the Catalan club against SD Huesca.
Manchester United were rumoured to have been pursuing a deal to sign the midfielder over the summer having been impressed with the speed and strength he demonstrated in a series of appearances for the Barcelona B and youth sides.
Tottenham, meanwhile, were also thought to be weighing up a move for the player, who was regarded as ideal for the week-in, week-out rigours of English football.
However Traore poured cold water on such talk soon enough, signing a new contract with Barcelona to remain at the Camp Nou until 2018.
And fans of the Catalan Club must be delighted after seeing the midfielder impress for Barca during a routine Copa del Rey rout of Huesca.
Already 4-0 up from the first leg, the result was never in doubt, leaving manager Luis Enrique to field an experimental line-up of players on the fringes of the first-team and currently impressing for the B side.
Traore duly got his moment, coming on for another bright prospect in Munir El Haddadi with 16 minutes remaining.
The 18-year-old duly made the most of his cameo appearance, scoring Barca’s seventh goal in an 8-1 win and effectively showcasing all the attributes that made him so popular with scouts from both Manchester United and Spurs.
And with plenty of time left to develop further in Spain, we may have just seen a future superstar in the making and one who could yet be convinced to come to English shores at some point.
