Chelsea strolled through a potential banana skin in the League Cup last night, beating Derby 3-1 to reach the last four of the League Cup.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly banned talk of a quadruple at the club, but the Blues are looking very strong on all fronts and are the heavy favourites to win their first piece of silverware this season via this competition.
Here are our player ratings for Chelsea from last night.
Cech – 6
When he was called on to make the right decisions, he did so and was consistent throughout the game.
Azpilicueta – 6
Played well over the first 45 minutes but struggled against the pace from Liverpool owned Jordon Ibe in the second-half.
Zouma – 7
A decent performance from the young Frenchman until he was taken off after a collision with Cech. He has a bright future.
Terry – 8
As reliable as ever. He relished the contest against Derby’s Chris Martin and didn’t allow himself or the team to be bullied.
Luis – 8
Controlled his side of the pitch well. He looks like the complete full-back; solid defensively and clever going forward.
Matic – 7
Protected the Chelsea defence well and made the right decisions with tackles and interceptions.
Mikel – 7
A decent performance though he looked a little sluggish at times, which will have frustrated his manager.
Fabregas – 7
Pulled the strings effectively in the middle of the pitch but he seems to raise himself when he’s challenged against one of the club’s bigger rivals.
Hazard – 8
He was too good for Derby throughout the game. His finish cam in a split second, when Derby’s defenders seemed to be expecting one or two more touches.
Schurrle – 6
Grabbed a late goal and worked hard, but he didn’t look up for it at times and will have better games.
Drogba – 8
Won every physical context he got involved in and carried an immense presence until he had to go off.
