If Tottenham Hotspur are able to pull off a swap-deal for Fabian Delph, then it could be the stand-out deal of the January transfer window.
Spurs have been long-term admirers of the Aston Villa midfielder and it seems that they are expected step up their interest in the New Year.
The Lilywhites are reportedly preparing to offer a swap deal to Villa to secure the England international, with Mousa Dembele heading the other way.
If Spurs are able to complete the transfer, then it will be a major achievement for the hierarchy at White Hart Lane and could be one of the best pieces of business the club have done in recent memory.
Delph looks more suited to Tottenham's game than Dembele and to sign him while not spending their funds for other areas of the squad could make it the perfect deal.
Delph's natural energy and ability to drive forward from midfield has been missing for Spurs. Although Dembele remains a fine technical midfielder, he is very similar to the players already at Pochettino's disposal and by swapping him Spurs would be upgrading without losing any needed quality.
The Belgian international has been put up for sale by Spurs, but this could turn out to be a more intuitive way of getting the 27-year-old off their books without actively having to sell him.
Dembele has made just three starts in the Premier League this season, and Delph would surely play a more crucial role than that if he was to arrive at White Hart Lane.
The only reason that the Villa midfielder is potentially available for such a transfer is because of his contract situation, with his current deal expiring, and Tottenham are showing excellent creativity by taking advantage of that fact in such a way.
Daniel Levy has come under some criticism in recent times from Spurs fans, but if he is able to complete this deal it will be one which deserves a lot of praise and it will once again highlight his excellent negotiation skills.
