While Wilfried Bony would be the ideal addition to Tottenham Hotspur's forward-line it is another Ivorian they are said to be monitoring.
As Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new striker continues, Mauricio Pochettino's side are reportedly considering a move for CSKA Moscow front-man Seydou Doumbia, although there is one potential stumbling block.
The London Evening Standard reports that while Tottenham are keen on the 26-year-old Ivorian, they are reluctant to pay his £25million release-clause and will attempt to negotiate a reduced fee.
Doumbia has scored 10 goals in 20 appearances for the Russian side this season and he has netted 83 times in 129 club appearances for them to date.
Prior to that he scored 58 goals in 79 games for BSC Young Boys and has a total of 149 goals in his club career.
Tottenham are in desperate need of quality strikers with the likes of Andrej Kramaric, Andre-Pierre Gignac and Jackson Martinez linked in recent times. But Spurs fans may want to get used to a flurry of new names in the weeks ahead, with January sure to be a big month at White Hart Lane.
