Adil Rami - The AC Milan star Celtic could sign to help KO Inter

Why Celtic should raid Inter's rivals to aid their Europa League push.

Celtic landed a superb tie against Inter Milan in Monday's Europa League draw - with the 2010 Champions League winners having a tough season.

The clash has a mix of glamour, and being winnable. Roberto Mancini's side sit 11th in Serie A.

Celtic have their own vulnerabilities too, particularly at centre-back. Efe Ambrose has been error prone in recent matches in the competition, while question marks exist as to whether they will be able to hang onto in-demand Virgil van Dijk in January.

That's why Celtic should consider a swoop on Inter's rivals to sign a player who can boost their defence in Adil Rami.

Rami, 28, is a former French international centre-back who has been at the club for the last one and a half seasons. The Express claimed last month that AC Milan are coming under financial pressure to cash in on the defender.

Formerly of Valencia, Rami has made 12 appearances for Milan this season, scoring once.

If Celtic did cash in on Van Dijk, Rami would be an experienced and accomplished replacement - and one who would clearly know their Europa League opponents Inter Milan well.

The defender recently spoke of his unhappiness at being played out of position at right-back, and could be primed to be tempted away.
