Reports suggest QPR have sights set on Blackburn's star strikers

Jordan Rhodes of Blackburn Rovers

Queens Park Rangers are, according to reports, the latest Premier League club to show interest in Blackburn Rovers pair Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede.

Blackburn Rovers are used to this situation by now, with each passing transfer window bringing a fresh round of rumours regarding the future of Jordan Rhodes.

The Scotland international is among the most prolific strikers in the Football League, netting 145 times in the last five-and-a-half seasons.

He can always be relied upon to break the 20-goal barrier, and players with that ability are not easy to find.

They also do not come cheap, with Rovers having spent £8 million to acquire his services from Huddersfield Town in 2012.

The Championship side have done well to keep Rhodes at Ewood Park since then, given that his efforts have not been enough to fire them back to the Premier League.

It is now being suggested that he will, once again, be offered the opportunity to make that step up in January.

Hull City were among those to express interest in the 24-year-old over the summer, but Queens Park Rangers are now said to be leading the chase – according to the Daily Star.

In fact, Harry Redknapp is reported to be so keen on raiding the Blackburn ranks that he is prepared to accept a deal for Rudy Gestede if he misses out on his top target.

The Frenchman has bettered Rhodes’ return this season, with a 12 efforts placing him second behind Ipswich Town’s Daryl Murphy on the second-tier scoring charts.

He may be a better option for QPR at this stage, with Rhodes an out-and-out goalscorer in the mould of Charlie Austin.

In contrast, Gestede is a towering frontman who is capable of bringing others into play with his aerial prowess.

He is more than just a goalscorer, and that could be what Redknapp needs as he endeavours to keep top-flight football at Loftus Road.
