John Guidetti’s star is on the rise, with a successful loan spell at Celtic thrusting him under the spotlight.
It may be that they seek to address that issue in January, with talk of permanent deals doing the rounds ahead of the re-opening of the transfer window.
Guidetti, though, would appear to be in no rush to depart Parkhead.
Celtic negotiated a purchase option when taking him from City and consider themselves to be favourites in the scramble to secure his signature.
They will be delighted to hear that the youngster sees himself as part of their long-term plans, with Guidetti revealing that he intends to be around for an eagerly-anticipated Europa League clash with Inter Milan in February and to help the reigning Scottish champions in their pursuit of multiple major honours in 2014/15.
He told the club’s official website: “It’s the medals we want and the medals we live for. I want to win every single competition that we are in. We can win the Europa League but it’s all about how hard we work for each other.
“There are some fantastic teams in the Europa League and it is a much more difficult competition than people may think. There are the likes of Liverpool and Napoli and my old club Feyenoord as well.
“It’s going to be difficult and we’ll need a bit of luck and the amazing support that we have here at Celtic Park will be huge for us.
“We know that we have the chance to progress in the knockout stages and the support will be right behind us. This is not an easy place to come to and with our team we can do a lot of good things.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, all I want is to play in front of a full Celtic Park. That’s my ambition.”
Celtic are understood to be in discussions regarding a £3 million deal for Guidetti.
They are hoping to tie up an agreement as quickly as possible after seeing the 22-year-old net 11 goals this season.
Ronny Deila has reported ‘movement’ in talks and is optimistic regarding his chances of keeping all of his prized assets – including Virgil van Dijk – at Parkhead until at least the end of the season.
