Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson is reportedly out of the Reds’ festive fixtures after tearing his groin against Manchester United.
It was already known that the England international would miss Sunday’s match against Arsenal, but now the Daily Star reports that Johnson will miss all Liverpool’s festive fixtures at a time when Brendan Rodgers needs everyone fit and available.
Liverpool are currently 11th in the Premier League table and suffered the disappointment of crashing out of the Champions League just days before losing 3-0 to Manchester United.
Rodgers will want to turn things around quickly but he will seemingly have to do so without Johnson, a player who has made 15 appearances for the club so far this season.
He has been strongly tipped to leave Anfield in the summer with his current contract coming to an end, but in the meantime he has proved there is still a place for him as Jon Flanagan steps up his recovery from a long-term injury.
