Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has refuted speculation that he suggested to Brendan Rodgers to sign Dejan Lovren in the summer transfer window.
Croatia international defender Lovren joined Liverpool from Southampton for £20 million following a stellar debut season in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old was one of the best centre-backs in England last season and was expected to make Liverpool’s defence much stronger this term.
However, Lovren has looked a shadow of his former self and has been severely out of form.
Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, has been critical of Lovren this campaign, although he was hugely appreciative of the ex-Lyon star last season.
There have been suggestions that Carragher advised Liverpool boss Rodgers to sign Lovren, which he has now dismissed.
