Tottenham defender Kyle Walker said his return to Premier League action after a long-term pelvis injury 'could not have gone better'.

Walker played the full 90 minutes of the side's 2-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday, facing up to Jefferson Montero for most of the game.

The right-back told the club's website: "Montero is probably the quickest I’ve come up against and after nine months out, you don’t really need that!

“I thought I did okay, so credit to the fitness coaches who have got me back into good shape. Hopefully it’s a stepping stone in the right direction.”

Spurs are in action in the Capital One Cup against Newcastle United at White Hart Lane tomorrow night as they bid to book a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino has told reporters that Emmanuel Adeabyor will not be involved after returning for training following compassionate leave, but defender Kyle Naughton is available.

The Spurs boss said: “He will not be considered for tomorrow. He only started again yesterday to train and after one week away, it is impossible to be ready to play tomorrow.”
