Gennaro Gattuso in pole position to replace McCoist at Rangers - Report

Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly being lined up for the vacant Rangers job.

Could former Rangers midfielder Gennaro Gattuso be the next manager of the club?

Gattuso has had two jobs in management already at Sion in Switzerland and Palermo in Italy, and is currently working as a technical director at OFI Crete.

Still only 36-years-old, the Champions League winner still has a close affection for Rangers where he played during the 1997/98 season.

Italian website TMW report that he is a frontrunner for the Rangers job, which will become vacant when Ally McCoist leaves at the end of the season.

They report: "Rino Gattuso could return to the Rangers. After being very close in the summer of 2012, the current technical dell'OFI Crete is in pole position to replace to Ally McCoist."

Gattuso is very open about his desire to return to Rangers in the future, and it could be a case of perfect timing, with his post as technical director in Greece hardly the height of his long-term ambition.

A fiery character from his playing days, Gattuso will be a real spark at Ibrox and will be sure to ignite the passion of the players and fans alike.
