Fabrizio Lucchesi is looking forward to the Europa League tie between Fiorentina and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Italian club and the Premier League outfit have been drawn against each other in the last 32 of the European competition.
The first leg of the tie will be played at White Hart Lane on Thursday February 19, with Fiorentina to host the second leg a week later.
Lucchesi, who is a former general manager of Fiorentina and Roma, is relishing the tie between the two teams and is especially looking forward to watching Erik Lamela in action.
“Among the Italian clubs, Fiorentina have the most difficult draw,” he told Firenzeviola.it. “But if they have all the players available and there are no injuries, then they have an excellent chance of going through.
“Tottenham are a good team even though they are doing very well in the Premier League. They have some quality players, players like Lamela who can win the game with a single move. It will be a beautiful challenge.”
It seems that Lucchesi rates Tottenham winger Erik Lamela very highly, despite the fact that the Argentina international has yet to show his class in the Premier League.
Former AS Roma star Lamela is a very gifted player and has the potential to be world class, but for one reason or the other the 22-year-old is just not consistent enough.
Hopefully for the Tottenham fans, Lamela will get into the rhythm in the coming weeks.
