Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is an outstanding talent with the world at his feet and following another fantastic goal for the Toffees on Monday evening, he has garnered plenty more praise.
Barkley scored Everton's first goal in their 3-1 win against Queens Park Rangers, and his all-round performance prompted a show of appreciation from Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher.
But the next day Barkley's performance was still clearly on Carragher's mind, with the ex-defender tweeting the following:
"Thought Ross Barkley was outstanding last night in a central midfield role. An early front-runner for Sports Personality of the Year."
That was quite a statement from the Liverpool great but there is no doubt Barkley has what it takes to become one of the finest footballers of his generation.
The 21-year-old is now at an age where he will want to push on, and more displays like the one in Everton's latest victory should mean that comes sooner rather than later.
