Italian club Atalanta are interested in signing Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt, according to a report.
The 25-year-old seems to have fallen out of favour at QPR and has struggled with fitness issues so far this season.
Morocco international Adel Taarabt has been publicly criticised by Rangers manager Harry Redknapp for not being fit, and is currently out with a groin injury.
It has now been reported by Gianlucadimarzio.com that Atalanta is interested in recruiting Taarabt. The Serie A outfit have supposedly made “initial contacts”, but the former Tottenham Hotspur attacker wants to “play for a top Italian club”.
Taarabt is reportedly interested in returning to Italy, where he played on loan for AC Milan in the second half of last season.
The Moroccan did not have exactly a great time in Serie A, but he seems to have made an impression on Atalanta.
One can understand why Taarabt wants to bid his time and wait for a bigger club to make an offer. Atalanta finished 11th in Serie A last season and are currently just two points above the relegation zone in 16th.
Whether or not a big Italian club comes in for Taarabt remains to be seen.
