Tottenham loan round-up: Teenager’s first start; midfielder enjoys victory

Tottenham WHL

A look at how Tottenham Hotspur's loan players did this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a much-needed victory against Swansea City on Sunday, with Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen firing them to a 2-1 win.

But while Spurs’ first-team were fighting for Premier League points, some of their loan players were eager for good performances of their own.

Here we take a look at some of Tottenham’s loan stars and how they did at the weekend:

Alex Pritchard – Brentford

Brentford defeated Blackburn Rovers 3-1 at the weekend with Alex Pritchard completing the whole match.

The attacking midfielder has recently been linked with a permanent move away from White Hart Lane with a number of Premier League clubs said to be monitoring his situation, but given how well he has been performing in the Championship he could well have a future at Tottenham.

Milos Veljkovic – Middlesbrough

A week after making his debut for loan club Middlesbrough, centre-back Milos Veljkovic had to make do with another place on the bench against Derby County.

This time the 19-year-old was not called upon as Boro recorded an impressive 2-0 win and climbed up to second in the table as a result.

Lewis Holtby – Hamburg

Midfielder Lewis Holtby played for Hamburg against Freiburg on Saturday but was unable to fire his side to victory with the match ending 0-0.

The 24-year-old has played 13 matches for the Bundesliga side this season but he is yet to score and has just a single assist in that time.

Tomislav Golmet – Bari

Tottenham’s 19-year-old attacking midfielder Tomislav Golmet is currently on loan at Italian side Bari and he made his first start for the club in their 1-0 win against Cittadella on Saturday.

That came a week after his debut for the club when he was introduced as a second-half substitute against Carpi.
