A look at who the four British teams could face when the Europa League draw is made on Monday, and the worst possibilities...
Possibilities: Borussia Monchengladbach, Club Brugges, Red Bull Salzburg, Dinamo Moscow, Inter Milan, Feyenoord, Napoli, Dynamo Kiev, Fiorentina, Legia Warsaw, Olympiakos, Sporting Lisbon, Athletic Bilbao, Zenit St Petersburg
Surely the draw Tottenham Hotspur want to avoid is a clash against Zenit St Petersburg. Facing former manager Andre Villas-Boas would be a real talking point, and the Portuguese manager would be desperate to prove a point by beating them. Travelling to Russia in February will not be pleasant either for Spurs, and they would prefer as short a journey as possible, to have the least effect on their Premier League ambitions. Club Brugge perhaps?
Possibilities: Borussia Monchengladbach, Club Brugge, Besiktas, Red Bull Salzburg, Dinamo Moscow, Inter Milan, Feyenoord, Napoli, Dynamo Kiev, Fiorentina, Legia Warsaw, Olympiakos, Sporting Lisbon, Athletic Bilbao, Zenit St Petersburg.
Could you just imagine if Rafa Benitez's Napoli were to be drawn against Liverpool? With Brendan Rodgers under pressure, there is nobody who could sway the fanbase against him quite like the Spaniard. If he were to lead the Italian side to victory over Liverpool, talk over a comeback would reach unprecedented levels of hysteria. Instead, like Tottenham, Club Brugge are likely to be top of their list of preferred opponents.
Possibilities: Villarreal, Torino, Celtic, PSV, Dnipro, Sevilla, Wolfsburg, Young Boys, AaB, Guingamp, Trabzonspor, Anderlecht, Ajax, Roma.
Italian giants Roma would be an unwelcome 'reward' for finishing top of their group for Everton. The Italian side were narrowly eliminated from the Champions League, are are only in pot two because of Italy's low UEFA co-efficient ranking. One point off the top in Serie A with only two league losses all season, Rudi Garcia' men are a team to avoid.
An intriguing tie would be a revenge game against Villarreal, who knocked Everton out of the Champions League qualifying stages in 2014/05, and Celtic would be a fascinating encounter. A nice draw would be Danish side AaB.
Possibilities: Borussia Monchengladbach, Club Brugges, Besiktas, Dinamo Moscow, Inter Milan, Feyenoord, Everton, Napoli, Dynamo Kiev, Fiorentina, Legia Warsaw, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisbon, Athletic Bilbao, Zenit St Petersburg.
The team Celtic will want to avoid is Legia Wardaw, who have already knocked them out of Europe once this season. Celtic were reinstated on a technicality, and the Poles were angry with the SPL side for declining their offer of a rematch. Warsaw would be desperate to win, and it's a scenario Celtic would surely rather want to skip.
A tie against Everton will give them a chance to prove a point and also be of financial interest from increased television revenue, while from a glamour perspective, a game against Inter Milan would be tempting - and winnable, with the team 13th in Serie A at present.
