Stambouli does more in 20 minutes than Tottenham's Mason does in 70

Tottenham midfielder Benjamin Stambouli impressed in his short cameo against Swansea City.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli is amazingly yet to make a Premier League start since signing in the summer.

Yet he continues to make the most of the limited time he does get, and state his case to head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The Frenchman did more in his 20 minutes than the player he came on for, Ryan Mason, did in 70.

Stambouli matched Mason's one tackle, and made four interceptions to three from the breakthrough star. He also won one aerial duel, and showed his attacking prowess by creating two goalscoring opportunities.

Mason has enjoyed an impressive season since coming into the first team, and has been a regular pick for the Argentine manager.

Yet given Stambouli's own display, it's time the Frenchman deserved a chance from the start to show more of what he can do, and start avoiding premature transfer speculation as to why he is not being used and whether he could already be tempted away.

The midfielder has been fit all season, and done well in the Europa League when given a chance, and his role in the final 20 minutes, in which Spurs changed the game against Swansea - could be the tipping point which opens it all up for him.
