Richard Keogh looks ahead to Derby County v Chelsea

Richard Keogh is looking forward to playing for Derby County against Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Tuesday.

Derby County defender Richard Keogh has warned Chelsea that they are determined to win the League Cup tie on Tuesday.

Championship outfit Derby will host the Blues in the quarter-finals of the competition at the iPro Stadium.

The Rams have recently suffered some setbacks in their quest to gain automatic promotion back to the Premier League, losing their last two away games in the Championship.

A 2-0 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road was followed by a 3-0 home win against Brighton & Hove Albion, but on Saturday Steve McClaren’s side went down 2-0 at Middlesborough.

Even though Derby are at home for Tuesday’s match, Chelsea will be favourites - for obvious reasons - but Keogh insists that he and his teammates have what it takes to win against the Premier League leaders.

One suspects that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will not play his best players against Derby, but even then the Blues will be the stronger team.

Currently third in the Championship table, the Rams will certainly be looking to take the scalp of Chelsea. It will be tough, but it is not impossible.
