Southampton have been offered the chance to sign Wesley Sneijder in January, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Sneijder has become frustrated with life at Galatasaray and is looking to move out, with St. Mary's believed to be a possible destination.
The experienced Dutchman is reportedly available for £9 million in the new year and his signing would be a major coup for the Saints if they are able to secure it.
Southampton's impressive start to the season has increased the belief that they could sneak into the European spots and Sneijder's arrival would certainly aid them.
The 30-year-old would bring a huge amount of quality to their current squad and his creativity could be a valuable asset to the South Coast club.
Although Southampton already have Dusan Tadic as the main architect at the club, the arrival of Sneijder would mean they have one of the most dangerous attacking midfield line-ups in the league.
He will also bring further quality to a squad which needs depth adding to it. Although Southampton's starting line-up looks strong this season, they have already struggled as injuries have been mounting up and Ronald Koeman is known to be on the hunt for players in January.
The signing of Sneijder would really make a statement of their intentions and increase the excitement levels around St. Mary's hugely.
Manchester United are also said to be interested in bringing Sneijder to Old Trafford, having been long-term admirers, but the increased opportunity for first-team football available to him at Southampton could put them in the driving seat.
