A round-up of how Liverpool’s loan stars got on this weekend.
Liverpool could not get back to winning ways at the weekend as they lost 3-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
With the Reds now out of the Champions League and their domestic form leaving much to be desired, manager Brendan Rodgers has plenty of work to do in the second half of the season.
But while Liverpool’s senior stars were suffering a defeat a number of their younger players were attempting to impress for their loan clubs, and here we take a look at how some of them fared.
Divock Origi – Lille
Lille recorded a vital 3-0 victory against Toulouse on Sunday with Liverpool’s £10million summer signing Divock Origi supplying the assist for the final goal.
The Belgian international has now failed to score in his last nine Ligue 1 appearances but it is important to note that he remains just 19 and has a huge future ahead of him.
Luis Alberto – Malaga
Malaga won 1-0 at home to Celta Vigo at the weekend but Luis Alberto again spent the entire match on the bench.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has spent the last three matches as an unused substitute and has not featured for more than 12 minutes since match-day six.
Andre Wisdom – West Bromwich Albion
Andre Wisdom helped West Bromwich Albion to their second consecutive clean-sheet as they followed up their goalless draw with Hull with a 1-0 victory against Aston Villa.
The young right-back is now a regular for Alan Irvine and he continues to suggest he can have a big future in the top flight.
Joao Teixeira – Brighton & Hove Albion
Joao Teixeira started Brighton’s match against Millwall on Friday evening but could not help his side to the victory.
The 21-year-old played the entire match but he has now gone three games without an assist and he will want to do better in an attempt to get Rodgers’ attention.
Rafa Paez – Bologna
Rafa Paez had to make do with a place on the bench for Italian side Bologna at the weekend as he watched his side draw 2-2 with Frosinone.
The 20-year-old centre-back started the last match against Catania but was back on the bench a week later, unable to add to his seven senior appearances to date.
Jordon Ibe – Derby County
Liverpool’s bright young talent Jordon Ibe came on as a second-half substitute for Derby County against Middlesbrough on Saturday, but the teenager could not prevent the Rams from losing 2-0.
Ibe replaced Omar Mascarell at the break but could not add to the four goals he has already scored this season.
