Hotel Heritage, Bruges: hotel review

Hotel Heritage Bruges

The perfect place to rest your head after a busy day soaking up the beauty of Bruges.

HH Exterior

Hotel Heritage is located in the middle of Bruges and is just a short walk from all of the major tourist spots, restaurants and shops.

The history of the, now aptly named, Hotel Heritage's building dates back as far as 1390, since then the mansion has been a home to many families and used by several businesses. In 1992 Johan and Isabelle Creytens bought and lovingly restored this building into a stylishly refined 4 star hotel. Each room has been individually designed with a modern salute to the buildings history and careful attention paid to every detail.

HH Lounge

You can expect to enjoy a quiet breakfast in an enchanting dining room with like minded travellers looking to experience the charm of Bruges in style.

Our Superior room did not disappoint, once through the door we were greeted with a thoughtful hand written welcome note from the hotel owners, which had been place next to a fruit basket filled with an ample array of delicious fruits. In the centre of the room hung a beautiful crystal chandelier over a handmade Nilson bed, which Hotel Heritage boasts is "The bed of your dreams", it was so dreamy we almost missed breakfast! The room certainly had the classic elegance of a grand Belgian mansion, complete with wall paneling painted in complimentary soft golden hues, regal portraits hung in ornate gold frames, and expertly restored antique furnishings. The opulence continued through into the marble clad bathroom, culminating in a huge mirror with a show stopping gilded gold frame. Extra features included free wifi, ipad, Nespresso machine, fluffy white bathrobes, and just for fun a fully working vintage look telephone.

Food & Drinks

Le Mystique restaurant serves traditional dishes with a contemporary twist, using locally sourced organic ingredients from the Flanders region. As our visit was only a short one, we didn't mange to sample lunch or dinner but we did enjoy a very satisfying champagne breakfast. Throughout the day in the hotel bar Le Magnum, you will find a selection of teas, coffees, and afternoon tea, with great bar snacks and cocktails served until the early hours.
