Guillem Balague says West Ham have a tough task to try and sign Javi Fuego from Valencia.
They claimed the Hammers had been scouting him extensively and planned to start negotiations.
SkySports Spanish football pundit Guillem Balague claimed last night that West Ham had been knocked back by Valencia in their approach.
On Javi Fuego, linked to West Ham. Player one of the worst paid ones at club. WH interest real. But Valencia has told him he's not for sale— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) December 15, 2014
Fuego has played 15 times for Valencia this season and has been a key member of their side.
It certainly sounds as though West Ham may be frustrated in their attempts to sign him in January, but he will have only one year left on his contract come the summer.
By then they may become more open to the idea of him leaving and cash in, by which time West Ham will know more about whether they need to replace Alex Song, or have managed to sign him permanently from Barcelona.
