A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho has defended striker Diego Costa over the number of yellow cards he’s been accumulating.
Costa picked up his seventh booking already this season over the weekend.
“I remember two [cautions] that are understandable and fair. One was against Newcastle because he complained with the referee with arms in the air in body language that was not accepted,” said the boss.
Mourinho also says it wasn’t a mistake for the club to let Frank Lampard wind down his previous contract.
“It's his life, nothing to do with us. We made the right decision,” commented Mourinho.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has played down current assessments of the side.
The Blues were comfortable 3-0 winners against Hull over the weekend to retain their Premier League lead.
“We only judge the team when the season is finished and you can see how many trophies the team has in hand,” said the Czech.
