Drawing Fiorentina in the Europa League has had a negative effect on Tottenham's odds for winning the competition.
Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been given much hope of winning the Europa League, with 14 bookmakers reacting to their last 32 draw against Fiorentina by lengthening their odds to win the competition on oddschecker.
It’s one of the most difficult ties that Spurs could have been handed in what is arguably their best chance to make it into the Champions League next season. They’re a best price of 16/1 to lift the title (at the time of writing).
Elsewhere, Liverpool have come into the betting market as the third favourites (at 10/1) to win the tournament and they face Besiktas in their last 32 round, with the Turkish side beating Tottenham in their final group game.
Everton are the same price as Spurs in a few places but considered more likely to win the competition than the North Londoners as are Inter Milan.
The incentive of a place in the Champions League makes this tournament very difficult to call but it may suit Mauricio Pochettino’s side to have a glamourous tie, rather than a potential banana skin.
They’ll be going all out to prove the bookies wrong for rating five sides ahead of them in the betting market.
