West Ham may be getting a new striker - without signing anyone

West Ham's Modibo Maiga may have his loan spell at Metz cut short after frustrating the French club.

West Ham United may be getting a new striker very soon - without signing anyone.

Indeed, on-loan forward Modibo Maiga could reportedly have his loan deal at Metz cancelled after disappearing ahead of a match with Marseille, as well as later missing training.

"Modibo Maiga had a hearing on Thursday with Metz's disciplinary board," a club spokesman is quoted as saying by the Sunday People.

"He'll be told its decision about his punishment midway through next week. Maiga didn't turn up on Decemeber 7 in time to catch the plane to Marseille.

"The club was unable to contact him and had to set out with just 17 players."

West ham already have the likes of Andy Carroll, Carlton Cole, Mauro Zarate, Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho up front and there would be little room for the out-of-favour Maiga.

The Hammers may have to put up with him, however, unless a January sale to another club could be arranged.
