It is not usual that a team wins a game 3-0 and there goalkeeper ends up getting awarded the man-of-the-match award. But today Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea was certainly deserving of the accolade.
The Spanish international was supreme in the United goal today, regularly denying the Liverpool attack.
It was so good that an entire photo gallery can be dedicated to his performance.
The Manchester United man made a vital stop from Raheem Sterling one-on-one at 0-0. A minute later and United had gone up the other end and scored, courtesy of a Wayne Rooney finish.
But he did not stop there. He denied Sterling on a number of occasions, including an excellent save after Sterling looked clear to score into an open net.
His next victim however was Mario Balotelli. The Italian was denied his first Premier League goal on numerous occasions by the Manchester United stopper and he even stopped to show his appreciation for the efforts of his adversary.
With De Gea in the form of his life Manchester United are certainly title contenders this season.
