Liverpool could really do with the former Barcelona keeper at the moment.
Simon Mignolet's poor form has finally seen him dropped for the team, with Brad Jones brought in from the cold as his replacement. He did not do much better.
Meanwhile, at the other end, David De Gea was impassable. He was sensational throughout the game, denying Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli for fun throughout proceedings.
For Liverpool the game highlighted the need for a new goalkeeper. The problem is that the best option for them is currently training alongside De Gea at Old Trafford. This photo from Friday training at Carrington shows former Barcelona stopper Victor Valdes having a chat with De Gea in training for United, who are allowing him to continue his recovery from a knee injury at the club.
Valdes, who left Barcelona at the end of his contract this summer, was given his Barca debut by Louis van Gaal and hos presence at United would suggest a move to Liverpool is unlikely.
So the player Liverpool desperately need will be going into training with the man who denied them on several occasions this weekend come tomorrow morning.
Not ideal for Brendan Rodgers and co.
