Lord Sugar reminds Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers of his £100m jibe at Tottenham Hotspur

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar takes a dig at Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and warns that Raheem Sterling could leave next summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar has taken a dig at Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers by reminding him of his old comments about Spurs.

Back in April 2014 ahead of the Reds’ Premier League clash against Chelsea, Rodgers said: “Look at Tottenham ... [when] you spend over £100m you'd expect to be challenging for the league.”

Liverpool spent a similar amount of money in the summer transfer window following the departure of star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona, but the Merseyside outfit are nowhere near challenging for the Premier League title.

Following the Reds’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, Lord Sugar reminded Rodgers of what he had said about Spurs.

As in recent games of Liverpool, star winger Raheem Sterling was once again their best player.

The England international missed a good chance to score against United, but his pace and tricks kept the Red Devils’ defenders on their toes throughout the match.

Lord Sugar has claimed that Manchester United or Chelsea could prise away the 20-year-old next summer.

The defeat to United leaves Liverpool 10th in the Premier League table with 21 points from 16 matches, seven points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
