London-based duo Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard were both in action on Saturday – but which player comes out on top as HITC’s top London-based forward?
According to the table provided by Opta Stats, both players were in superb form as they helped their respective teams to comfortable home victories.
Premier League leaders Chelsea hosted Hull City at Stamford Bridge and returned to winnings ways following their defeat Newcastle United with a comfortable 2-0 victory.
The Blues were not at their very best but completed the job with minimal fuss thanks to an early Hazard header and a second-half strike from Diego Costa.
Aside from his early goal, the Belgian ace was instrumental throughout as he drove the Blues forward in search of more goals, taking two shots on goal and creating three chances for his teammates.
Likewise, Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez was in superb form as the Gunners crushed Newcastle United 4-1 in-front of a buoyant Emirates crowd.
The Chilean international dazzled in the spaces behind lone-striker Olivier Giroud, taking two shots and creating five chances for his teammates, two of which resulted in the ball ending up in the back of the net.
In possession, however, there are still question marks over Sanchez’s ball-efficiency as a number of attempted passes went astray, illustrated by his mere 29 accurate passes.
Hazard, on the other hand, proved to be more reliant on the ball as he took more touches, played more accurate passes and helped out from a defensive perspective with an impressive seven ball recoveries.
This isn’t the first time the two flying wingers have been nominated for HITC’s London-based attacker of the weeken, and it most certainly won’t be the last this season.
Although both were outstanding, again only one can come out on top and similarly to the previous time Hazard’s extra dependability on the ball is what separates the two stars this weekend.
