Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has expressed his disappointment with his side’s defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
England international striker Sturridge is currently injured and is in the USA as part of his recovery programme, but he was still following the Premier League game on television.
It did not make for a good viewing for the 25-year-old, though, as Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat to their fierce rivals at Old Trafford.
After the match, Sturridge took to social networking site Twitter to express his disappointment and assure the fans that he is doing all he can to region full fitness.
Absolutely gutted for everyone. Woke up and watched the game and it hurts. I'm optimistic though and I hope everyone else feels the same.— Daniel Sturridge (@D_Sturridge) December 14, 2014
Just know I'm working hard to ensure I'm back healthy. I miss everything about the game. I can't wait to help us be successful. #redordead— Daniel Sturridge (@D_Sturridge) December 14, 2014
The defeat at Old Trafford leaves Liverpool in ninth place in the Premier League table with 21 points from 16 matches, seven points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
