Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen included in prestigious team of the year

Christian Eriksen’s form for Tottenham Hotspur has been recognised by his compatriot, but ex-Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has been ignored.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has been named in the Denmark Team of the Year.

The team was picked by the Danish players’ association and comprises of players who are mainly playing their football outside of Denmark.

Eriksen’s impressive performances for Tottenham last season appear to have been key in his colleagues’ decision to pick him in the team, as reported by BT, although his compatriot Nicklas Bendtner has missed out.

The 26-year-old striker, currently on the books of German club Wolfsburg, struggled for playing time and goals at Arsenal last season and was eventually released in the summer.

Bendtner has not been in exactly scintillating form at Wolfsburg this campaign either, and it seems that he has not impressed his Danish colleagues too much.

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and departed Liverpool defender Daniel Agger are also in the team.

The Team:

Kasper Schmeichel; Peter Ankersen, Daniel Agger, Nicolai Boilesen, Simon Kjaer; Christian Eriksen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Lasse Schone; Michael Krohn-Dehli, Kasper Kusk, Lasse Vibe
