Tottenham Hotspur will be active in the January transfer window and will spend more than Arsenal, according to a report.
North London outfit Spurs are reportedly looking to revamp their squad and are willing to let a number of the first-team players leave.
This means that Tottenham will also recruit to reinforce the squad and continue to challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League this season.
“Which Premier League club will have the busiest transfer window? The answer, according to agents and executives at other clubs, appears to be Tottenham Hotspur,” states the report.
“Followed by Arsenal. It could make north London the centre for the month of transfer madness – with Queens Park Rangers next to follow.
“Certainly Spurs will be active if the indications coming from White Hart Lane remain true. In other words – that the club’s hierarchy continue to blame the players for the team’s failings and not Mauricio Pochettino, the manager.
“Daniel Levy, the chairman, would like to instigate a clear-out, even if that is easier said than done.”
It will be interesting to see which players Tottenham will (or are able to) offload in January, as without selling, Spurs will not be able to recruit.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has indicated a number of times that he is not inclined to making any signings in January, and one suspects that there will not be any unless there is an emergency.
There are problems and deficiencies in the Tottenham squad, but perhaps it would be wise if manager Mauricio Pochettino maintains his belief in the players he has got.
