Southampton fans react on Twitter to Jake Hesketh full debut v Burnley

St Marys Southampton

The 18-year-old started the 1-0 loss against Burnley this afternoon.

In recent years Southampton have earned a rightful reputation for bringing in top young talent. The likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, Calum Chambers and Luke Shaw have all come through the system in recent times and ended up going on to secure big moves away from the South Coast.

Now they are hoping that midfielder Jake Hesketh will follow in their footsteps.

He came on for his debut on Monday, 70 minutes into the game with Manchester United. Today he was handed his full debut. He started the game against Burnley in central midfield as Ronald Koeman through him in at the deep end.

On paper it was not a game to remember for the player.

He was booked and had to leave the field after 32 minutes through injury, visibly upset on the touchlines after having his debut cut short.

But that does not mean that Southampton fans were not impressed with what they saw from the tidy creative midfielder and they hope that in time they will get to see him playing on a regular basis.

Here is some of the best reaction to his performance from Twitter...
