On this day: Januzaj could retire at United; £9m Spurs flop glad he snubbed Liverpool

Januzaj And United Celebrate

On the 13th December 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 13th December 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 13th December 2013…

Januzaj for life

Manchester United whizz-kid Adnan Januzaj was speaking about his future, insisting he would happily retire at Manchester United.

The young Belgian had burst onto the scene under David Moyes at Old Trafford and was looking like a future star for the club.

He had however been linked with the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, despite signing a new contract earlier in the season.

He said:

"My first opinion was to sign for Manchester United. It was my first choice and I have signed for them. I am happy here.

"If I could play all my life at Manchester United I would do it for the club."

Januzaj will now be hoping to get some regular action under Louis van Gaal after first-team opportunities have been limited at Manchester United this season.

Liverpool are Capoue

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Etienne Capoue was discussing a failed move to Liverpool, insisting he was pleased that he ended up in North London and not Merseyside.

The French international stated:

"It was the right decision.

"I didn't know that (Liverpool) in particular were interested in me but I knew that English clubs were. I came to Tottenham because it's a very competitive club and it's a strong club. It's what I wanted."

Liverpool are probably pleased he went to Tottenham as well. After suffering an early injury he has struggled to get back into the Tottenham fold and is considered by most a £9 million flop.
