Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has assured the club’s fans that he will do all he can to return to competitive action as soon as possible.
The 28-year-old former Leeds United star broke his metatarsal in training on Thursday and underwent an operation on Friday.
The Denmark international is likely to be out for at least a month, but he has insisted that he will try to return before then.
On Saturday morning, Schmeichel took to social networking site Twitter to post the following message to the Leicester fans.
Thank you all for your kind messages. Beyond gutted to me out but the op went well and I'll be working as hard.....— Kasper schmeichel (@kschmeichel1) December 13, 2014
Schmeichel joined Leicester from Leeds in the summer of 2011 and is a key member of Nigel Pearson’s squad.
