Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle has backed Manchester United to get the better of Liverpool today.
The Red Devils will take on the Merseyside outfit at Old Trafford in the Premier League and will be eyeing their sixth successive win.
“Both sides are playing poorly and both are defensively weak,” Hoddle wrote in The Daily Mail. “When the tactical systems aren’t working well, it tends to come down to the quality of the individuals, and that’s why I feel this game has come at the right time for United.
“With Robin van Persie coming into form and Wayne Rooney on the pitch, they have more experienced players of quality than Liverpool.
“And they have the momentum of five consecutive wins, however, scratchy they were. Liverpool are in a trough, confidence is low. At Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, it’s hard to see beyond a United win.”
Hoddle’s prediction of the outcome will be backed by many and could turn out to be true.
United will head into the encounter as the favourites and with momentum on their side, but they cannot get too complacent.
Liverpool have been poor in recent matches, but they do have players who can step up their game and rise to the occasion.
Playing against fierce rivals United will pump up the Reds stars, and they could nick a point.
Or maybe more.
