Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to give more chances to young players.
With Laurent Koscielny injured for the match, Wenger played right-back Mathieu Debuchy in central defence.
Ferdinand was not impressed with this decision of the Frenchman and urged him to use more academy products under such circumstances.
Wenger doesn't care to play randoms at CB..I'd love to see a kid CB pulled out of the u21's or youth team..give the kids a chance perleease!— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) December 13, 2014
Arsenal eventually eased to a 4-1 victory at the Emirates, and one player in particular stood out for the Queens Park Rangers centre-back: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Again...Oxlaide Chamberlain is best in midfield...opens the game up in a variety of ways - passes,dribbles,runs...not one dimensional at all— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) December 13, 2014
England international attack Oxlade-Chamberlain had 85% pass accuracy, 2 shots, attempted six take-ons, won 40% of the tackles, made three interceptions and made one clearance for Arsenal against Newcastle.
