The German world cup winner is being lined up by Atletico Madrid.
In recent times Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has been hogging the headlines slightly. The German World Cup winner has been complaining in the press about his lack of involvement in the Arsenal first-team.
He recently commented that he would not sit around like 'a clown' and wait for his contract to expire at The Emirates.
Indeed Arsene Wenger has used Podolski sparingly in recent months and rarely in his favoured central position.
But with Arsenal already through in the Champions League prior to their tie with Galatasaray in Turkey it gave Arsene Wenger the opportunity to rest plenty of first team stars for the game such as Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
Podolski made up part of a front three along with fellow back up stars Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell. It certainly did not take him long to make an impact, as he blasted home a trademark left footed strike from out wide in the third minute.
He then added a second late on in a 4-1 win to truly remind Wenger just what he is missing out on.
But while Arsenal are not sure on Poldi, plenty of other teams are said to be keen.
Today, Atletico Madrid reportedly joined that list.
A report in Diario AS has suggested that Diego Simeone is ready to make a move for the German.
A move to the Spanish champions could well appeal to the World Cup winner, and Arsenal are believed to be interested in a player that Atleti are keen to let go.
This summer Arsenal were linked with Torino forward Alessio Cerci.
The Italian international, who predominantly plays as a winger, can play through the middle so was the type of player Arsene Wenger was after up top.
But in the end they missed out on the talent after he joined Atletico for a fee believed to be in the region of €12 million.
But this might just be the perfect way for Arsene Wenger to get his man and remove the delicate problem of Podolski at Arsenal.
