Italian source TMW claims Roma and Tottenham Hotspur held talks over a deal for defender Vlad Chiriches following the Italian side’s Champions League defeat to Manchester City earlier this week.
The Romanian defender has been tipped to leave Spurs this winter, with Roma widely reported as one of the clubs interested in doing a deal for the centre-back.
TMW claims talks have taken place between representatives of the Serie A giants and those representing Chiriches, as he seemingly looks for a way out of North London where he’s struggled to make an impression under Pochettino.
Roma are thought to be keen on a loan deal, with Spurs potentially favouring a permanent sale which would provide manager Mauricio Pochettino with the option of reinvesting cash in other areas of his squad during the next transfer window.
That will give other sides hope as they mull over whether to make their own formal approaches to the defender’s representatives but for now, Roma appear to be in the driving seat to sign him.
