The Fulham midfielder is more successful going forward - but where does the Leeds man trump him?
Ahead of Leeds United's Championship clash with Fulham tomorrow afternoon, one key area will be a concern for both sides.
Midfield, midfield, midfield.
For hosts Leeds, their midfield unit provides creativity in abundance - but, away from home especially, they sometimes lack steel and physicality down the middle (that may concern them less at Elland Road).
For the Cottagers, it is more about offering their often leaky defence protection down the middle.
|Accurate Passes (per game)||Chances Created||Final-third Passes||Tackles Won||Interceptions Won||Minutes Played|
As Opta stats show, both midfielders are comparable - and two trends are immediately clear.
Going forward, Parker is the more successful of the two (marginally). Three key areas he trumps the Italian in are his accurate passes per game, chances created and successful final-third passes (this area is more convincing) per game.
Defensively, however, 26-year-old Bianchi comes off better, averaging more won tackles and interceptions per game.
That perhaps defines both midfielder's roles, suggesting they are, in fact, as good as each other carrying out the instructions given to them. If you want to win the ball back, Bianchi may just be your man. But if you want to turn defence into attack, Parker's the one for the job.
