Stats Preview: Will Arsenal overcome Newcastle at the Emirates?

Ahead of Arsenal's clash against Newcastle United on Saturday, we bring you the top five stats from the match.

Arsenal can register a sixth victory in a row over Newcastle United when they host Alan Pardew’s side at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners impressively demolished Turkish outfit Galatasaray on Wednesday, following a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Stoke in their previous Premier League fixture.

Newcastle, meanwhile, had a great boost to their confidence when they ended Chelsea’s 23-game unbeaten run last Saturday, thanks to two goals from Papiss Cisse.

Here are the top five statistics ahead of Saturday afternoon's encounter:

1 - Arsenal have won 5 of their last 6 home encounters with Newcastle, including a memorable 7-3 win back in 2012, but have won only 3 of their 7 league matches at the Emirates this season and have just 2 wins to their name in their last 5.

2 - Papiss Demba Cisse has scored seven goals from just 10 shots on target in the Premier League this season. The Senegal striker has scored more goals as a substitute than any other player in the top flight this term (4).

3 - The Gunners haven't scored in the first half of any of their last six Premier League matches, while the Magpies are the only team yet to score in the opening 30 minutes of their league matches this season.

4 - Olivier Giroud has netted four goals in four Premier League appearances against Newcastle. Three of the goals the Frenchman has scored against the Magpies have been headers. His two goals this season have both come as a substitute in the 90th minute.

5 - Since the start of last season, Newcastle have been shown more red cards than any other Premier League side (9). Meanwhile, Arsenal's Calum Chambers has accumulated more yellow cards than any other player (6).
