Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson has predicted Tottenham Hotspur to lose to Swansea City on Sunday.
“I picked Spurs last week to beat Palace at home and they never won, so they’re not going to win at Swansea,” the 46-year-old wrote on Skysports.com. “The Swans are a decent team, I’ve watched them a lot.
“Even though they got beat at West Ham at home they are a force and they’ll win this game. I thought Spurs were brilliant against Everton a couple of weeks ago and then against Palace they were really poor. Swansea is a tough place to go, whoever you are.”
Swansea will indeed fancy their chances against Tottenham, especially as they are at home and are having a brilliant season.
Heading into this weekend’s round of matches, the Swans find themselves eighth in the Premier League table with 22 points from 15 matches, five points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
Tottenham are a point behind the Swans in 10th and are having a rather inconsistent season, and this is only going to aid Swansea’s cause.
This is not to say that Tottenham have no chance whatsoever of winning at the Liberty Stadium, but they will certainly be given a run for their money by Garry Monk’s side.
