On this day: Soldado hits hat-trick and Manchester United target rules out move

On the 11th December 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal and Chelsea.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 11th December 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 11th December 2013…

Soldado for three

A year ago today and Tottenham Hotspur romped to victory over Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League. Andre Villas-Boas' boys conquered the Dagestan side with relative ease, with Roberto Soldado the unlikely hero.

The Spaniard had not yet took Tottenham by storm following his £26 million move from Valencia but he finally looked like the real deal with a fantastic hat-trick in North London.

Since this trio of strikes however Soldado has hit the net just five more times in a year. Not exactly what you would call prolific.

Koke not keen

A Manchester United target was seemingly ruling out a move to Old Trafford a year ago today. It was being reported that David Moyes went to scout Koke of Atletico Madrid earlier in the week, as he looked to bring him to Manchester United.

However the Spanish international ruled out a move, suggesting he was happy with Atletico:

“I did not know anything about it. Neither does it bother me. I signed a new contract last summer.”

It followed on from United missing out on the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara and Ander Herrera in the summer.
