Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson says he is not impressed with Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has taken a sizeable jab at Tottenham Hotspur, dismissing them as average.
The former league winner turned pundit believes anything they achieve this season will only be down to other teams performing poorly.
"I am not sure that is the case, however, because the more I see of them, the more I think they are quite average. The only reason Mauricio Pochettino's side might be involved at the top end of the table is down to the failings of other teams."
He went onto add that he felt victories against Hull and Aston Villa only happened because the opposition sides had players sent off.
So what do the stats say, are Tottenham 'average'?
|Goals||Goals Conceded||Chances Created||Passing Accuracy||Points|
|Premier League Average||19.65||19.65||147.65||80%||20.35|
In five key areas, it's pretty close to call: Spurs have scored less goals than the average number netted by all 20 teams, and conceded more than the average - not the right side they want to fall into.
When it comes to chances created and passing accuracy, Tottenham are better than the average, not by a huge amount however. In terms of points, Spurs are also narrowly above, reflective of their 10th position in the Premier League table.
