'It's a shame' - Wenger confirms Aaron Ramsey setback

Arsene Wenger Pre FA Cup Press Conference 2

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger gave updates on player fitness ahead of the club's game against Newcastle tomorrow.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed defenders Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal are not available for the game against Newcastle.

The boss has also confirmed that Aaron Ramsey has a problem, with Calum Chambers missing the game through injury.

"Koscielny and Monreal are out. Chambers is suspended and Ramsey is also out."

Wenger was particularly frustrated by Ramsey's setback, praising his recent form.

"It's a shame because he was getting close to matching last season's form."

There was a slight boost on the fitness front, with the boss confirming that two key players, vital to the balance of the side, are available as well as his main attacking players.

"He (Gibbs) is available and Flamini is available too."

"Sanchez, Giroud and Welbeck are fit and rested."

The boss has also given a big hint over his January transfer plans, insisting the club doesn't need to making signings with everyone fit.

"If everybody is fit then we don't need to go into the transfer market."

Wenger has stressed that Arsenal need to be on top form and united this weekend, due to Newcastle's recent form.

"They are doing well and are on a good run so it'll be a good challenge for us. Overall we are on a good trend."

"We are united for one target: to do well for the club we love and that's what we want to achieve."

"We (Pardew) had a problem once but we sorted it out. He has done very well because he's gone through a difficult patch."

The boss further dispelled the idea that German forward Lukas Podolski will leave the club this winter, insisting he'll get a chance in attack.

"He's getting back into form. There's a lot of competition up front. He will get a chance."

"I can understand frustration but he has to be ready when his chance comes to help the club."
