WWE join forces with Warner Bros Interactive for new mobile game.
Wrestling powerhouse WWE have teamed up with Warner Bros Interactive and their first venture will be a new mobile game, announced today as WWE Immortals.
The game is being developed by NetherRealm Studios, the studio responsible for classics such as Mortal Kombat and Injustice: Gods Among Us. NetherRealm will also work in conjunction with Phosphor Game Studios on the game.
WWE Immortals will feature battles between the WWE Superstars in a a re-imagined world, much like that of Mortal Kombat. Details are sparse at present but if the fighting style in the games is anything like Mortal Kombat or Injustice then it will likely be great fun as well as hugely over the top.
Casey Collins, Executive Vice President of WWE Consumer Products, released the following statement about the game.
"We are excited to partner with WBIE and NetherRealm Studios to create WWE Immortals and bring a new action-packed mobile experience to our passionate fan base. By tapping into NetherRealm’s legendary game development studio along with the unparalleled reach of WBIE, we are creating a new way for fans to engage with the larger-than-life WWE characters."
Whilst a new mobile game may not be the biggest news in the world it is the partnership between WWE and WBIE. WBIE are, of course, responsible for overseeing a large portion of the Lego games amongst others. With this in mind could we be about to witness a WWE Lego game? We hope so.
WWE Immortals will be released in 2015 on iPod, iPhone, iPad, Android and Touch devices.
